IIIE Bhilai Chapter to Organize Regional Workshop on Green Steel Technology

Bhilai (Dewangan Times) : The Bhilai Chapter of the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) will organize a regional workshop on Green Steel Technology in Bhilai in the coming months as part of its efforts to expand technical and academic activities and promote awareness of emerging technologies among students and young engineers.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Bhilai Chapter Council of IIIE, held on Sunday at ICH near Surya Mall. The meeting was chaired by Chapter Chairman K. Patel. Vice-Chairman Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan, Secretary Avnish Dubey, Treasurer Vivek Gupta, former Chairmen H. K. Desai and S. K. Dogra, along with other council members, were present.

During the meeting, it was decided that experts from engineering colleges and technical institutions would be invited to participate in the proposed regional workshop. The members observed that Green Steel Technology is emerging as an important technological requirement for environmental protection, energy efficiency and sustainable industrial development. They emphasized the need to prepare students and young engineers for these future technological challenges.

Chapter Chairman K. Patel said that the Chapter would formulate initiatives to ensure that young engineers benefit from the technical knowledge and practical experience of senior engineers and industry experts.

Vice-Chairman Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan informed that the Chapter would give special emphasis to student-centric activities. Technical and academic seminars, workshops, competitions and other educational programmes will be organized in schools and colleges. It was also decided to provide knowledge-enhancing books as prizes and gifts to winners and participants of various competitions, with the objective of developing reading habits, strengthening their knowledge base and helping them prepare for competitive examinations.

The meeting also decided to encourage member engineers to prepare technical research papers and publish them in industrial engineering journals. Necessary guidance and support will be provided to members interested in technical research and academic publication.

The Council further stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among different IIIE chapters so that programmes, innovative initiatives and best practices can be shared and replicated effectively.

The meeting also discussed plans to extend IIIE's activities to schools and colleges in nearby districts, including Balod and other adjoining areas. Educational institutions will be identified for organizing technical and academic programmes, enabling more students to learn about industrial engineering, technical education and emerging career opportunities in the engineering and industrial sectors.

The Chapter Council reviewed the activities and achievements of the Bhilai Chapter during the year and expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far. Members also discussed several new initiatives aimed at further strengthening the Chapter's technical, academic and organizational activities.

In another important decision, the Council resolved to strengthen the digital presence of IIIE Bhilai Chapter. A comprehensive action plan will be prepared with the support of digital marketing expert Vishal Singh to effectively showcase the Chapter's achievements, technical initiatives and upcoming programmes through various digital platforms.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to expand the reach of industrial engineering education, encourage technical research, strengthen industry-academia interaction and create greater learning opportunities for students and young engineering professionals.
