• The Federation will work for the dignity, safety, well-being and active ageing of senior citizens, while promoting the welfare of children, youth, women and society as a whole.

Bhilai ( Dewangan Times) : A significant meeting of eminent intellectuals, educationists, litterateurs, cultural personalities, social workers and distinguished citizens of the region was held at Nehru Nagar, Bhilai. The meeting unanimously resolved to establish the Varishthajan Kalyan Mahasangh (Senior Citizens Welfare Federation) as a voluntary, non-political and non-profit social organization. The Federation will work for the welfare of senior citizens as well as the holistic development, public service and social welfare of children, youth and women.

Senior social worker Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan was unanimously elected as the Founder President of the Federation.

Gopal Prasad Tiwari was appointed as the General Secretary, while Dinesh Kumar Gupta was appointed as the Treasurer.

Eminent scholar and Sanskrit academician Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma, along with Dr. D. P. Deshmukh, Editor of Kala Parampara, were unanimously appointed as the Patrons of the Federation.

The meeting authorized the Founder President to constitute the Executive Committee, prepare the Constitution (By-laws) of the Federation, complete all legal formalities for registration under the Societies Registration Act, and undertake all necessary administrative procedures on behalf of the organization.

During detailed deliberations on the objectives of the Federation, it was resolved that the organization would work not only for senior citizens but also for the welfare and empowerment of children, youth and women. The Federation will undertake activities relating to dignity and respect for senior citizens, healthcare, safety, active ageing, social harmony, education, literature, culture, environmental protection, health awareness, personality development, community service, national integration and other public welfare initiatives.

It was further resolved that the Federation would initially operate within Durg District, with a vision to expand its activities across the State and eventually at the National level. The Federation will also affiliate organizations having similar aims and objectives to promote wider social coordination, cooperation and public participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma described the formation of the Federation as a visionary and socially meaningful initiative. He expressed confidence that the organization would emerge as a model institution dedicated to ensuring dignity, security, active and happy ageing, and meaningful social service.

Dr. D. P. Deshmukh, Editor of Kala Parampara, appreciated the initiative and stated that the newly formed Federation would work not only for the welfare of senior citizens but also for the happiness, development and empowerment of children, youth and women.

The founding members present at the meeting included Acharya Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Dr. D. P. Deshmukh, Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Gopal Prasad Tiwari, Kantilal Vishwakarma, R. P. Varshney, Dhaneshwar Kumar Nirmal, N. L. Maurya Pritam, Joseph, Hukumchand Dewangan, Chhaya Vishwakarma and Suman Dewangan, along with other founding members, all of whom extended their wholehearted support to the objectives of the Federation and described its formation as a historic step in the interest of society.

The newly elected office-bearers and patrons were felicitated during the meeting. The vote of thanks was delivered by the newly appointed General Secretary, Gopal Prasad Tiwari, while singer Joseph enthralled the gathering with a melodious musical presentation.
