Bhilai (DJN) : Under the auspices of Dewangan Jan Kalyan Samiti (DJKS), Bhilai, a grand cultural program “Dewangan Night – Cultural Festival” was organized at Parmeshwari Bhavan, Pragati Nagar, Risali. On this occasion, prominent social workers, philanthropists, and talented individuals contributing significantly to social upliftment, welfare, and community organization were honored with special community awards instituted in the name of the revered ancestors of the Dewangan society. Among the awardees were Acharya Pt. Santosh Rao, famous narrator of Parmeshwari Puran, national-level sculptor Ankush Dewangan, and 20 other eminent personalities.

The event also featured a variety of competitions such as singing, dancing, instrumental performances, painting, essay writing, rangoli, and mehndi for participants of all age groups. The dance performances by little girls Saanvi Dewangan, Poorvi Dewangan, and Rupali Dewangan received great applause from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan, President of the DJKS, stated that the purpose of organizing the Dewangan Night Cultural Festival is to provide a major platform to the hidden talents within the community and to encourage and honor them. He emphasized, “Our forefathers are our priceless heritage. Their inspiration and guidance are our true pathfinders.” Therefore, to acknowledge outstanding contributions in fields such as social service, art, and culture, these special community honors have been instituted in their names.

“Parmeshwari Kala Ratna Alankaran” – Nationally acclaimed sculptor Ankush Dewangan

“Parmeshwari Seva Ratna Alankaran” – Acharya Pt. Santosh Rao Ganguly (KharoRa), narrator of Parmeshwari Puran, and Dr. B. M. Dewangan, social worker

“Parmeshwari Seva Bhushan Alankaran” – For significant contribution to community welfare and organization: Chandulal Dewangan, Dr. Shyamlal Dewangan, Dr. G. L. Dewangan, Dr. S. M. Dewangan, Subhash Chandra Dewangan, Puranik Ram Dewangan, U. C. Dewangan, Ramanand Dewangan, and posthumously Dr. Dushyant Dewangan and Jhadi Ram Dewangan

“Adi Purush Deepchand Alankaran” – For philanthropic contributions: Nohar Singh Dewangan, Kunjlal Dewangan (Raipur), Murlidhar Dewangan, Nirmal Kumar Dewangan, and posthumously Sukhitram Dewangan and Patiram Dewangan (awarded to their families)

Mrs. Suman Dewangan presented a detailed introduction and achievements of the awardees.

Addressing the gathering, Acharya Pt. Santosh Rao appreciated the initiative and said that providing a platform to the community’s talents and honoring them is a commendable act. He appealed to people not to be influenced by greed or conversion, but to respect their lineage, tradition, and culture. Other honored guests also spoke and praised the initiative of instituting community awards in the name of the forefathers.

On the occasion of Diwali Milan, the Parmeshwari Temple premises were beautifully decorated with lamps, and the celebration concluded with safe and eco-friendly fireworks.

Under the leadership of Cultural Incharge Ramgopal Dewangan, 25 community artists presented various cultural performances including dance and music. Under the guidance of Harish Dewangan, head of the art department, painting and essay competitions for children were successfully organized. The audience enjoyed the musical and cultural presentations till late at night.

Key contributors to the successful organization included Secretary Vinod Dewangan, Treasurer Gajendra Dewangan, Reshamlal Dewangan, Trilok Dewangan, Kalpana Bhanu Dewangan, Jitendra Bankure, Satyapal Dewangan, Raju Dewangan, Hem Kailash Dewangan, Dayaram Dewangan, Homlal Dewangan, and others.

The award ceremony was compered by Suman Dewangan, the cultural segment by Ramgopal Dewangan, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Vinod Dewangan. A large number of members, office bearers, and families of the awardees were present during the event.
