IIIE Bhilai Chapter launched the program “Clean City and Green Environment” under its central campaign “Nayi Soch – Naya Daur” (New Thinking – New Era).

Bhilai (DJN). In a major initiative to make Bhilai the number one clean city in India, the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Bhilai Chapter has taken the lead. Under this initiative, the Institution has collaborated with Surya Vihar Resident Association and Swaminarayan International Gurukul School Management to ensure the active participation of students and citizens. The first phase aims to make Surya Vihar Colony the first clean colony in Bhilai.

The program “Clean City and Green Environment” was formally launched on Thursday at Gurukul School, Surya Vihar Colony, as part of IIIE Bhilai’s flagship campaign “Nayi Soch – Naya Daur.”

At the beginning of the event, Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan, Vice Chairman of IIIE Bhilai Chapter, briefed about the Institution’s objectives, creative activities, and upcoming plans to apply industrial engineering techniques in improving the quality of life for all sections of society. He informed that under the guidance of the Institution’s office bearers, Gurukul School staff and students will form small groups to visit each household in Surya Vihar Colony after school hours. They will encourage residents to maintain cleanliness, assist in waste collection and disposal, and keep their surroundings clean. With active community involvement, the colony will be transformed into a model clean colony.

Further, the Institution plans to extend this initiative to other colonies across Bhilai in collaboration with various committees and organizations, promoting cleanliness and environmental protection. Awareness will also be spread through seminars, rallies, and street plays focusing on cleanliness and environmental conservation.

Mr. K. Patel, Chairman of IIIE Bhilai Chapter and former Executive Director of Bhilai Steel Plant, stated that by applying Industrial Engineering techniques, the Institution aims to contribute towards making India the most developed nation by the year 2047, marking 100 years of independence.

Mr. Palash Jaiswal, Principal of Swaminarayan International Gurukul School, assured full support and cooperation from the institution and the school for this noble campaign.

To ensure the participation of various organizations, committees, and the general public, the campaign has been given the slogan — “Join Hands for Making Bhilai Clean City.”

IIIE Bhilai Chapter has also set a goal to educate children of various age groups on how to apply Industrial Engineering techniques in both theoretical and practical life situations so that they can effectively find solutions to problems.

Mrs. Sutapa Dasgupta Debnath, President of Surya Vihar Resident Association, expressed that every family and individual in the colony will be involved to ensure active participation in this campaign. During the event, members of IIIE Bhilai Chapter, Gurukul School, and the Surya Vihar Resident Association joined hands together and pledged their commitment to the cause.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of K. Patel (Chairman, IIIE Bhilai Chapter), Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan (Vice Chairman), Avneesh Dubey (Secretary), Vivek Gupta (Treasurer), S. K. Dogra, Sushil Hariramani, Santosh Agrawal, Dinamani Nayak, Manish Kumar, Mrs. Sutapa Dasgupta Debnath (President, Surya Vihar Resident Association), Mrs. Radha Dubey (Vice President), M. Srinivas (Secretary), Mrs. Deepashikha Bhatnagar, P. K. Tiwari, Palash Jaiswal (Principal, Gurukul International School), K. K. Santosh, Mrs. K. Pushpalata, teaching staff, and students in large numbers.

All participants held hands together symbolizing unity and pledged to actively participate in the “Join Hands” campaign. The program commenced with a collective lamp-lighting ceremony by representatives of all participating organizations and concluded with the National Anthem.
