Bhilai (DJN). On the occasion of Gita Jayanti, the Bhilai Varishth Nagrik Mahasangh ( BVNM) organized a dignified programme titled “Literary Discussion – With the Elderly” at Siyan Sadan, Vaishali Nagar. The chief guest was renowned litterateur and educationist Acharya Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma, while the programme was chaired by BVNM President Ghanshyam Kumar Dewangan.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharma said that literature enriches a person’s thoughts, emotions, and life perspective. He emphasized that the Bhagavad Gita is an unparalleled and supreme text of world literature that guides humanity through every crisis. When the rich life experiences of senior citizens integrate with literature, it becomes a bright source of inspiration and guidance for the younger generation. Literature is not only read but also lived, and the lives of elders serve as its finest examples. He also spoke about the importance of literature and the invaluable wisdom and life experiences of senior citizens.

BVNM President Ghanshyam Dewangan said that the symposium “Literary Discussion – With the Elderly” represents a unique confluence of tradition, experience, and literary dialogue. He stated that literature must not remain confined to books; its true essence lies in reaching readers. He encouraged everyone to cultivate the habit of reading and highlighted that quality literature is available for all sections of society. He also announced that similar literary and cultural programmes will continue to be organized for senior citizens in the future.

The event began with melodious songs presented by Joseph, Dinesh Mishra, and Dinesh Gupta, which set a pleasant atmosphere for the programme.
CA highlight of the event was when chief guest and author Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma donated a set of his five self-written books to the library of Siyan Sadan, Vaishali Nagar, for senior citizens. This thoughtful gesture made the event even more inspiring and memorable. The Federation honoured Dr. Sharma for this contribution, while President Ghanshyam Dewangan described it as a step toward enhancing the intellectual growth, reading culture, and literary enrichment of senior citizens. Chandrabhan Dinde was also honoured by the Mahasangh for consistently organizing the Sundar Kand recitation every Saturday at Siyan Sadan.
Senior citizens Ramayan Mishra, Chandrabhan Dinde, R. S. Prasad, Gangacharan Purohit and others shared songs, poems, and personal memories, highlighting the invaluable lessons they gathered from literature throughout their lives. The entire programme resonated with creativity, sensitivity, and a vibrant literary spirit.
Several senior citizens including Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Dinesh Prasad Mishra, Shivprasad Sahu, Radheshyam Prasad, Gangacharan Purohit, Digambar Karmathkar, Suresh Chandra Jain, Dhaneshwar Kumar Nirmal, Ramayan Mishra, Chandrabhan Dinde, Rambhau Gite, Rajendra Varshney, Mangal Singh, Ram Borkar, Ambikar, S. K. Gupta, Arjun Singh Sahu, Jagdish Ram Sahu, R. D. Verma, Kumar Prasad Verma, Sunil Vahane, M. L. Gopal, Borkar, and many other senior members were present. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dinesh Gupta.
